A former baker bought a prince's title by adult adoption, sold it on to adopted sons, and became Zsa Zsa Gabor's heir
Hans Robert Lichtenberg was born in Wallhausen, Germany, on 18 June 1943. He trained as a baker and ran men's saunas. In February 1980 Princess Marie-Auguste of Anhalt, then over 80, adopted him as an adult, and he became Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt. He paid her 2,000 marks a month. The title dealer Hans Hermann Weyer said a 200,000-mark fee was mostly never paid. The head of the house of Anhalt does not recognise him. He married Zsa Zsa Gabor on 14 August 1986. He then adopted adult men who paid to take the name, including the brothel operator Marcus Prinz von Anhalt. German press reported about 10 million euros paid to him over time†, and that adopted sons signed inheritance waivers. Gabor's only child, Francesca Hilton, fought him. In 2005 he sued her over a $2 million loan on Gabor's Bel Air house; the case was dismissed when Gabor did not sign a statement. In 2012 a judge named him Gabor's temporary conservator. Francesca died on 5 January 2015, and he sought her body without success. Gabor died on 18 December 2016, aged 99. He inherited as her sole heir, and her estate auctioned more than 450 items in April 2018. In December 2021 he adopted Kevin Feucht, aged 27, and in February 2022 said he wanted to undo it.
An adult adoption transfers a name and inheritance rights by contract, and a spouse who outlives the only child can take the whole estate.
