Kirk Kerkorian's investigator took Steve Bing's dental floss from the trash and proved Kerkorian's "daughter" was Bing's child

Kirk Kerkorian built MGM Grand and controlled the MGM film studio through his holding company, Tracinda. In 1999 he married Lisa Bonder, a former professional tennis player 48 years younger. The marriage lasted about one month. Bonder had a daughter, Kira, born in 1998†, and in 2002 she sought child support from Kerkorian for the girl. Kerkorian did not believe Kira was his. His lawyer hired the private investigator Anthony Pellicano. Pellicano took used dental floss from the trash of Steve Bing, a film producer and Bonder's former boyfriend, and had it tested. The DNA showed Bing was Kira's father. In May 2002 Bing sued Kerkorian for invasion of privacy over the floss; the two men settled out of court. Pellicano had also tapped Bonder's phone. He was convicted of wiretapping and racketeering in 2008 and sentenced to 15 years. Kerkorian's lawyer Terry Christensen was convicted of racketeering for hiring him and sentenced to three years. Kerkorian died nine days after his 98th birthday. Most of his $2 billion estate was left to charity, to be distributed by a three-person committee within three years. In December 2018 the estate settled with his fourth wife, Una Davis, for $12.5 million plus $60 million for two foundations she advised. No public record shows a bequest to Kira from Kerkorian†.

What the law took from it

A child support claim opens the question of paternity, and a payer who doubts it will pay to have it tested.
