Paul Walker left $25 million to his 15-year-old daughter, who then sued Porsche
Paul Walker died on November 30, 2013, as a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend and business partner Roger Rodas. Police cited speed. His father and executor, Paul Walker III, filed a will leaving the entire estate, reported at $25 million, to his daughter Meadow, then 15. It named Walker's mother, Cheryl, as Meadow's guardian. Meadow had lived with her mother, Rebecca Soteros, in Hawaii for 13 years and had moved in with her father in 2011. Cheryl Walker later dropped her guardianship bid after a dispute with Soteros†. By 2016, court papers listed Brandon Birtell as Meadow's guardian. In 2014 Rodas's estate paid $10.1 million into a trust for Meadow, which was disclosed in 2016. Meadow sued Porsche, alleging defects in the car. Porsche said the car had been altered and misused. In July 2016 Judge Stephen Pfahler let her suit proceed, though a federal judge had dismissed a suit by Rodas's widow. Walker's father also sued Porsche. Both later settled with Porsche†. Walker's estate separately sued Rodas's estate and widow for cars the two men co-owned, worth about $1.8 million, and that case settled. In 2024 Meadow, then 25, settled her own divorce under a prenuptial agreement.
A guardian named in a will is a nomination, not an order; the surviving parent usually wins custody.
