Silvio Berlusconi left €100 million to his 33-year-old partner and €30 million to a friend convicted of mafia ties
Silvio Berlusconi was prime minister of Italy four times and built Fininvest, owner of the Mediaset television group. His will was opened in July 2023. It left his two eldest children, Marina and Pier Silvio, together 53 percent of Fininvest, which gave them control. His three children from his second marriage, Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi, received the other 47 percent. Italian law reserves a share of an estate for children, and the split followed that rule. The will left €100 million to his brother Paolo and €100 million to Marta Fascina, his 33-year-old partner, a member of parliament he never legally married. It also left €30 million to Marcello Dell'Utri, co-founder of his party, who served a sentence after a 2014 conviction for external participation in mafia association. Dell'Utri said he was "shocked" and that Berlusconi owed him nothing. The heirs paid the bequests in tranches. Fascina later bought a 250-square-metre house from the children for over €1 million.
Under forced heirship the children's share is fixed, so control passes through how the company shares are split among them.
