Tony Curtis left everything to his wife and named his five living children to exclude them
Tony Curtis had six children; his son Nicholas died in 1994†. About five months before his death, Curtis signed a will leaving his estate to his wife, Jill Vandenberg Curtis. She was 42 years younger and was married to him for the last 12 years of his life. The will names his children and says he had "intentionally and with full knowledge chosen not to provide for them." His five living children, including actress Jamie Lee Curtis, received nothing. His daughter Allegra said five grandchildren received $30,000 in total and that Jamie Lee's two children received nothing. Curtis died at his home in Nevada in late September 2010 at 85. At his Las Vegas funeral on October 4, 2010, Jamie Lee placed a flower on his casket. In September 2011 his daughter Kelly Curtis filed court papers claiming the disinheritance resulted from "duress, menace, fraud or undue influence" by Jill Curtis or others. Allegra said, "I don't believe that was his last wishes." Jill Curtis said he was "very specific in his wishes," that he told his children they were disinherited, and that his relationships with them had nothing to do with her. She auctioned many of his possessions at Julien's in Los Angeles, including the jacket and cap he wore in "Some Like It Hot." The outcome of Kelly Curtis's claim does not appear in the sources cited here. Curtis is buried at Palm Memorial Park in Henderson†.
A will that names each excluded child and states the reason in the testator's own words is harder to overturn on an undue influence claim.
