Martha Raye married a man 33 years younger and left him her $2 million estate, after her daughter sued for conservatorship

Martha Raye died of pneumonia at Cedars-Sinai on 19 October 1994, aged 78. She had had Alzheimer's disease, a 1990 stroke and liver disease. Her left leg was amputated in October 1993 and her right in February 1994. On 25 September 1991, three weeks after they met, she married Mark Harris, her seventh husband and a man about 30 to 33 years younger†. Her estranged daughter Melodye sued for conservatorship of her estate before she died, saying Raye could not manage her affairs and was open to "fraud and undue influence," according to the Washington Post. Raye then revised her will. It left her home and the rest of an estate of about $2 million to Harris. It left Melodye $50,000 on condition she drop any contest†. She was buried with full military honors at the Main Post Cemetery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, not at Arlington. The outcome of the conservatorship suit is not stated in the sources found†.

What the law took from it

A will revised after a conservatorship fight, with a payment to the challenger conditioned on dropping the contest, targets the objection that she was not capable.
