The attempted foreclosure sale of Graceland, 2023 to 2025

Lisa Marie Presley's trust was told it owed $3.8 million on Graceland, and the Missouri woman who forged the loan got 57 months in prison

Lisa Marie Presley died on 12 January 2023. Graceland, which she owned, was held in her trust, and her daughter Riley Keough became sole trustee that year. In September 2023 a company called Naussany Investments & Private Lending presented papers saying her Promenade Trust owed $3.8 million on a 2018 loan secured on Graceland. A foreclosure notice ran in The Commercial Appeal, and an auction was set for 23 May 2024. Keough sued in Shelby County, saying her mother never borrowed from Naussany. Her suit said the notary named on the papers, Kimberly Philbrick, had never met Lisa Marie or notarized anything for her. On 22 May 2024 Shelby County Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins issued a temporary injunction against the sale. Lisa Jeanine Findley of Kimberling City, Missouri, was arrested on 16 August 2024. The Justice Department said she used a fake company, forged documents and false court filings, and threatened to auction Graceland unless the family paid or settled. Investigators said she posed as 3 different people at Naussany and forged the signatures of Lisa Marie and a Florida notary. On 25 February 2025 Findley pleaded guilty to 1 count of mail fraud, and an identity theft charge was dropped under the plea deal. In September 2025 Senior US District Judge John T. Fowlkes Jr. sentenced her in Memphis to 57 months in federal prison and 3 years of supervision. Graceland remains in Lisa Marie's trust.

What the law took from it

A creditor can claim against a dead person's trust with forged loan papers, and the trustee has to go to court to stop the foreclosure sale.
