Avicii died at 28 without a will; his parents inherited about $25 million and sold 75 percent of his catalog
Tim Bergling, who recorded as Avicii, died at 28. He was not married and had no children, and he left no will. Under Swedish law his estate passed to his parents, Klas Bergling and Anki Lidén. Swedish documents reported by Billboard in December 2018 put the estate at about 231 million Swedish kronor, roughly $25 million, after debts†. His Los Angeles home was sold off-market. The parents set up the Tim Bergling Foundation, which funds mental health and suicide prevention work for young people, and put estate money into it. On 28 September 2022 Pophouse Entertainment, the Stockholm firm founded by ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus and EQT's Conni Jonsson, bought 75 percent of his master recordings and publishing. The family and estate kept 25 percent. The price was not disclosed. Klas Bergling said the deal was "securing the Tim Bergling Foundation's long-term finances." In 2026 Pophouse holds the majority of his catalog and the family holds the rest.
A 28-year-old with a fortune and no will leaves the law to choose his heirs, and his parents to decide what his music is for.
