General Chakri took Taksin's throne in 1782 while Taksin's son and heir was away at war, and dug up Taksin's body two years later

Taksin rallied Siamese forces after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767 and ruled as king from Thonburi. The chronicle of the First Reign of Bangkok, compiled on royal orders by Chao Phraya Thiphakorawong, records what followed. In 1781 Taksin sent an army of 20,000 into Cambodia in three columns. One was led by his son, Prince Inthraphithak. Another was led by his chief general, Somdet Chao Phraya Mahakasatsuek, the man later crowned as Rama I. In the fourth month of the Year of the Ox, early 1782, the chronicle says "the lord of Thonburi lost his mind," disorder broke out in the capital, and Phraya San and his followers seized him and removed him from the throne. The general hurried back to Thonburi. The chronicle says the prince "did not know what had happened." On arrival the general was asked by the people to clear away the king's enemies and take the throne. He was crowned on 10 June 1782, aged 46; his dynasty still reigns. The chronicle says he "suppressed the disorder." It does not say how Taksin died. Thai Wikipedia, citing a Thai chronicle collection, says Prince Inthraphithak was captured in Saraburi and executed with a younger brother†. In 1784 the new king and his brother ordered "the corpse of the lord of Thonburi" dug up and cremated at Wat Bang Yi Ruea Tai, and attended the cremation. A stupa at that temple, now Wat Intharam in Bangkok, is described as holding Taksin's ashes.

What the law took from it

A ruler who sends his heir away to war leaves the heir unable to defend the succession.
