Mango's founder fell to his death on a hike with his son, and a judge has named the son the only suspect

Isak Andic was born in Istanbul in 1953, moved to Barcelona as a youth and founded Mango in 1984. In 2023 his fortune was put at €2.7 billion, the largest in Catalonia. On 14 December 2024 he fell into the Coves de Salnitre ravine at Collbató while hiking. His son Jonathan, vice chairman of Mango's board, was the only person with him. The death was first treated as a mountain accident and the case was closed. On 20 October 2025 the three executors of the will, including Mango chairman Toni Ruiz, wrote that the will had been carried out "scrupulously" and defended Jonathan. That month Catalan police opened a homicide line of inquiry. On 19 May 2026 the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested Jonathan. The Martorell judge put him under investigation for homicide and released him on €1 million bail. Her order says he had an "obsession with money", wanted his inheritance during his father's lifetime, and that Isak was working on a foundation for his estate when he died. On 3 July 2026 his sisters, Sara and Judith, testified that the family met once a year to balance the inheritance among the three children. Jonathan says his father fell by accident. He is under investigation, not convicted, and no trial has been ordered. As of July 2026 he was the only person under investigation.

What the law took from it

A plan to move part of an estate to a foundation should be settled openly with every heir before it becomes a motive in a court file.

Family version vs. the record

The family and the defence say the fall was an accident and that the three children accepted the division of the inheritance ( The judge's order cites a conflictive father-son relationship, a demand for a lifetime inheritance and inconsistencies in Jonathan's account (
